How to get your bill

Three ways that work on any provider, then the quick path for yours. Any of them is fine. You do not need all three.

The three that always work

1. It is already in your inbox easiest

Your provider emails you every month when the bill is ready, usually with the statement attached or one tap away. Search your inbox for their name, open this month's, save the PDF, then upload it here.

No hunting through menus. Most people forget these emails exist, and they are often in spam or Promotions rather than the main inbox.

2. On a computer: print it to a PDF works everywhere
  1. Sign in to your provider's website and open your current bill.
  2. Press Ctrl+P, or Cmd+P on a Mac.
  3. Where it says Destination or Printer, choose Save as PDF.
  4. Save it, then send that file.

This works on every provider's website because it is your browser doing it, not them. It still works when their own download button is missing or broken.

This is the workaround Xfinity's own support staff give customers on their community forum when the download is not available.
3. On a phone: screenshot the charges fine by me

Open the bill in your provider's app and screenshot each page that lists charges. Not the summary screen with one big total, the pages that break the charges down line by line.

Usually two to four screenshots. The upload takes them all at once, so select every page together rather than sending one and stopping. This tells me nearly as much as a PDF and takes a fraction of the effort.

If you get stuck, send what you have. A photo of a paper bill, one screenshot, anything. I would rather look at something imperfect today than wait for a perfect PDF that never comes. I will tell you if I need more.

The quick path for your provider

Menus change without warning, so if what you see does not match, use one of the three above instead. That is not a failure, it is what those are for.

AT&T

Website: sign in at att.com, then Bill & payments. Choose Download for a PDF, or View/Print.

App: myAT&T, then Billing, then See past bills.

You can see up to 16 months of bills. If nothing shows, you are probably signed in with a different AT&T ID than the one on the account.

From AT&T's own support article "View or print your AT&T bill".
Xfinity / Comcast

App: tap Bill details, then Statement history, then the billing date you want, and download the PDF.

Website: xfinity.com, then Billing, then Statement history.

Two things that catch people here. You must be signed in as the primary account holder, or an ID with manager access. A partner on the account often sees nothing and assumes they did it wrong. And on Xfinity Mobile accounts a PDF is frequently not available at all, so use the print-to-PDF or screenshot method instead.

From Xfinity's official support pages view billing history and viewing your bill online, and from Xfinity staff answers on their community forum.
Verizon

Website: sign in to My Verizon, then Bill, then View bill, then Download.

App: My Verizon, then Bill, then View bill, then the share or download icon.

On a multi-line account, make sure you are on the account overview rather than one line, or you will only get part of it.

T-Mobile

Website: sign in at t-mobile.com, then Billing, then Bill history, then the statement you want.

App: T-Mobile app, then Billing, then the bill, then Download PDF or the share icon.

Spectrum / Charter

Website: Spectrum.net, then Billing, then Statements, then the download arrow beside the month you want.

App: My Spectrum, then Billing, then Statements.

Cox

Website: cox.com, then My Bill, then View statements or Billing history, then the PDF for the month you want.

App: Cox app, then Billing, then Statements.

Optimum / Altice

Website: optimum.net, then Billing, then Statements or Billing history.

Optimum Mobile is billed separately from Optimum internet. If you have both, I need whichever one you want looked at, and both is better.

Frontier, CenturyLink, Brightspeed, Kinetic and the rest

They all follow the same shape: sign in, find Billing or My bill, then look for Statements or Billing history, then download.

If you cannot find it within a minute or two, do not keep hunting. Use the print-to-PDF method above, or just forward the email they sent you.

What I actually need

The pages with the charges on them. On most bills that is page two or three onwards, where every line is broken out with its own amount. The first page is usually just a total and it tells me almost nothing.

The whole bill is better than part of it. Fees hide near the back, under headings like "Other charges" or "Surcharges". That is normally where the money is.

Your account number and address are on there. That is fine and I need neither. The bill file is never uploaded anywhere or stored, and I never touch your account.
